C.A.O.
Gold Line
CAO International, Inc. got its start in 1968 as an extension of Cano Ozgener's hobby of collecting meerschaum pipes. In 1977, Ozgener added other kinds of pipes and in 1990 started selling humidors. In 1992, Ozgener decided to get into the cigar business with a premium cigar of his own. As an experienced cigar importer, Ozgener met with the dream team of Carlos Toraño and Nestor Plasencia for help in designing his cigar. After three years of development, the first CAO cigar was launched to acclaim from both the marketplace and the critics in 1995. In July 1996 the CAO Gold line was introduced. The wrapper is Ecuadorian grown Connecticut seed tobacco. The binder and filler are Cubano Piloto grown in Nicaragua. Wrapper and filler are both aged for a minimum eighteen months before rolling. The blend was designed for a medium bodied taste. Tabacalera San Cristobal, S.A. manufactures about 50,000 of the CAO Gold cigars per month at its De Los Reyes, S.A. in Santiago, Dominican R!
epublic.
Cameroon
Introduced in July 1999, the Cameroon Series from C.A.O. builds on the company's success with the L'Anniversaire Maduro line. These box pressed cigars feature a Cameroon wrapper and Nicaraguan filler and binder.
Criollo
CAO Criollo cigars (pronounced, 'cree-oy-yo') present the rich, sweet and authentic flavor of Cuban-seed Criollo tobaccos. This selection is deftly wrapped in flawless,'96 vintage leaves that surround a robust Cuban-seed Nicaraguan tobacco blend for a full-bodied taste that's reminiscent of the Cuban cigars that were enjoyed during an era when Havana was the center of the cigar world. A truly outstanding smoke that's smooth, complex and a delight for the senses.
Brazilia
Introduced at the 2001 RTDA show, C.A.O. International spent 18 months developing the C.A.O. Brazilia line. C.A.O. Vice President, Tim Ozgener, says, "C.A.O. has always been interested in the rich and flavorful wrapper leaf that is grown in Brazil, however, we were waiting in the wings until we found just the right crop of Brazilian leaf that would compliment the Nicaraguan binder and filler that have proven so successful in our L’Anniversaire blends. We sampled over 50 different blends to arrive at the final Brazilia blend. The C.A.O. Brazilia bands and boxes are being produced by the same company that manufactures packaging for such companies as Godiva and Tattinger; our goal was to make the packaging as festive and vibrant as the country of Brazil is reputed to be."
